The L’Atelier du Vin showroom, 80 rue Bonaparte

80 rue Bonaparte, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. To mark its centenary, L’Atelier du Vin has made this address a place to discover: seven mirrored-glass plinths in the window, and polished, pleated stainless-steel furniture inside that echoes the building’s monastic heritage.

A place steeped in history

In the early 17th century, this part of rue Bonaparte, then known as rue du Pot-de-Fer, was home to the Jesuit novitiate; its chapel stood next door. The place retains a monastic spirit, carried by its old stone walls, vaulted ceilings and cellar.

Beneath these vaults, the wine space has been custom-designed by Architecture Intérieure du Vin, the house’s brand dedicated to wine cellars and wine furniture.

Here, gestures become rituals. Wine tools reveal the artistry of the hand, bringing the French art of living with wine to life. A distinctly modern and innovative savoir-faire, since 1926.

Seven plinths in the window

The window’s seven mirrored-glass plinths showcase wine tools from the most iconic to the most adventurous, from the sommelier’s corkscrew to the champagne flute.

From left to right, as seen from the street: the Soft Machine Brass corkscrew, Bottle Sleeves for blind tasting, the Magnum Perched Carafe, the L’Exploreur 655 – Aroma Line tasting glass, the Open Cristal Developer decanter, the Oeno Motion Groom, Geometry, Globe and Oeno Motion Trésor gift sets, and the Bubbles Celebration – La Collection champagne flutes.

Three passions, since 1926

Three passions have inspired the house from the very beginning: the vine, which brings people together; craftsmanship, which brings out the beauty of fine materials; and clean, considered design, which reimagines the rituals of wine tasting.

All three are present on rue Bonaparte. First, the vine, visible from the pavement: vine stocks rest at the feet of the window plinths. Then craftsmanship, in the burnished stainless-steel uprights that give the window the feel of a workshop, and inside, where you can bring a wine tool for repair. Finally, design, best understood through use: at the showroom, you can try the tools in your hand before choosing.

A place to celebrate and share

Bringing together tradition and creativity, the showroom offers a sensory experience: a celebration of craftsmanship and thoughtful design, and a living passion passed down through generations. Above all, a visit reveals how a century of design has transformed the rituals of wine tasting.
