“The story of L’Atelier du Vin is inextricably linked to the history of my family.
It all began in the first half of the 1900s with the highly creative and skilled inventors of the “Sanbri” corking device – a play on “no broken glass” in French – and a rotary bottle washer. Originally hailing from France’s Champagne region, our family has cherished the rituals around wine through three generations. We know just how special it is to savor a fine wine in good company. And I am passionate about sharing l’art de vivre le vin à la française – the art of enjoying fine wine, the French way – with wine lovers across France, Europe and the world by designing highly technical, excellent quality tools. I suppose you could say that L’Atelier du Vin is the hallmark of what brings my family together.”

Georges Richard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

A family business

Since 1926, L’Atelier du Vin has offered wine tools inspired by the day-to-day of winemakers and the contemporary art of enjoying fine wine.

As the roaring twenties drew to a close, our company began providing tools for wine connoisseurs wanting to bottle wine they’d purchased in casks from winemakers. In 1949, with the firm belief that knowledge and passion for wine were key to innovation and creativity, our founders launched their first corkscrew, the patented Bilame model. Over the years, many wine tools built on intense research and development would also go on to be patented.

Since then, the expertise, exceptional craftsmanship and exacting standards of our family business have given rise to outstanding, acclaimed pieces that combine the traditional and the contemporary.

The Haute Couture of wine accessories

Drawing on the French tradition of beautiful design for a perfectly thought-out and creative wine experience.

We are constantly striving to design, develop and produce highly precise tools that are as ergonomic as they are elegant. That’s why we work with the finest materials, from solid walnut and oak to blown glass, leather and varnish.

We pay particular attention to the mechanisms, cogs, plates, rivets and screws in our corkscrews. We also work with expert artisans and manufacturers across France, Europe and the world who specialize in the various materials and production methods used to make our pieces. Our products are designed in our workshops in France, and we are very proud of that: all our tools and accessories have that unmistakable French touch.

Rituals for connoisseurs

L’Atelier du Vin’s signature.

We know that tasting a fine wine is always a very special moment.

Our wine tools are designed for seasoned and beginner connoisseurs alike who want to elevate the art of enjoying and sharing fine wine even further – something we like to call Rituals. From classic, elegant styles to resolutely contemporary design, L’Atelier du Vin has something to suit every wine lover looking to give a beautiful gift or purchase a piece to treasure themselves.

Iconic, unique pieces

L’Atelier du Vin’s iconic pieces all have something special about them: the charm of careful craftsmanship.

From our corkscrews – the historic 1949 Bilame, our Soft Machine, patented in 2006, that removes corks in a single movement, or the vertical lever Oeno Motion – to our raised carafes in mouth-blown glass, the majority of L’Atelier du Vin’s iconic tools are unique numbered pieces.

Featuring different rare woods and offered for purchase individually, as part of a capsule collection or in a beautiful lacquered wood box; showcased under a blown glass dome or nestled in a leather case, each of our wine tools is a precious gift. Our collectors’ items are unique and iconic. Designed with the greatest respect for the planet, they will stand the test of time and accompany you faithfully throughout your wine journey.
