When design becomes reality

When design becomes reality

With its expert knowledge of every step of the process from idea to production, L’Atelier du Vin works with its designers, engineers, metalworkers, fine woodworkers and glassblowers to cultivate a unique and resolutely French savoir-faire.

A business built on family values, tasteful design and loyalty.

L’Atelier du Vin was founded by a family from France’s Champagne region who had owned vineyards for decades. But it is also founded on a shared delight in architecture and design, handed down from father to son.

And it’s founded on loyalty. Some of the women and men at L’Atelier du Vin have been part of the teams for more than 30 years. And these principles are brought to life every day in our workshops in Northern France, nestled in the heart of a region where industry meets with artisanal craftsmanship.

L’Atelier du Vin stands for passion, tradition and innovation.

The Studio: A hub for inventive and ingenious ideas.

Carefully observing, breaking down, understanding and analyzing the rituals around wine is where it all begins for the L’Atelier du Vin Studio. Every day, the Studio’s designers and engineers strive to single out the movements and functionalities that take the wine experience to the next level.

The result is a fresh collection every year of Wine Tools that are as beautiful as they are practical. As well as developing innovative new tools, the Studio also works to perfect some of L’Atelier du Vin’s emblematic existing pieces.

The Studio constantly aspires to marry ergonomics and aesthetics, crafting tools that are not only easy to grip but also pleasant to the eye and touch, since the experience of handling a piece is at the heart of L’Atelier du Vin’s design.

The Studio’s core belief is that “a piece that’s beautiful but badly designed is not fit for purpose.”

Every Wine Tool imagined and developed in our creative studio becomes an emblem of the art of enjoying fine wine the French way – all enhanced with fresh, contemporary style.

Tools crafted from noble materials…

The distinctive style synonymous with L’Atelier du Vin tools is brought to life using durable materials at every stage of the process. Beautiful, simple and pure, each of these fine materials is carefully crafted to bring out its best qualities – whether practical or enjoyable – with uncompromising standards of craftsmanship and savoir-faire.

Wood.

From walnut to rosewood and ebony, the precious woods chosen by L’Atelier du Vin’s fine woodworkers are, wherever possible, sourced from local, sustainably managed forests. Each piece of wood is picked out separately, then cut according to its specific characteristics to preserve its natural grain.

With painstaking care and unrivaled expertise, the craftspeople selected by L’Atelier du Vin combine traditional assembly techniques and contemporary machining to create one-of-a-kind Wine Tool presentation boxes.

Glass.

L’Atelier du Vin’s wine glasses, decanters and champagne flutes are made of high-quality, mouth-blown glass, free from lead where possible.

Our artisan glassblowers breathe life into each handcrafted piece, adding that special something, almost like an artist’s signature, that makes every model unique.

Leather.

L’Atelier du Vin takes the utmost care in selecting its partner leather workshops, which often work with the most prestigious luxury brands.

A noble, durable material, leather has a timeless elegance about it, as well as a certain sensuality. It changes and develops a patina over the years without ever growing old – rather like L’Atelier du Vin’s Wine Tools.

Steel.

The metalworkers at L’Atelier du Vin stay true to traditional techniques. The steel used in our Wine Tools is high-quality extruded stainless steel. Some of our tools are made from alloys that require specific expertise. Finishing techniques also need specialist knowledge, whether the end result is a chrome finish or polished surface.

The steel in our tools is selected to perfectly complement the leather and wood components.

For the design and production of each and every one of our tools, we bring together many different craftspeople specializing in traditional and contemporary trades. We’re passionate about doing it this way so that we can share tools that are precise, high-performing and, quite simply, beautiful, with connoisseurs the world over.
