Heir to an icon of the Art of Living Wine

In 1949, L’Atelier du Vin patented the Bilame — a unique bottle opener that removes a cork without ever piercing it. This precise and respectful gesture has since become a true signature for fine wine lovers.
The Bilame Silver Signature carries this legacy forward. Directly inspired by the legendary Bilame Chrome, it retains the same exceptional mechanism, now enhanced by a sleek black leather sheath and an elegant presentation case — transforming it into an object that is both functional and precious.
The pleasure of the gesture remains unchanged; only its setting has evolved toward an even more refined expression.

A preserved gesture, an undiminished pleasure

The two fine blades of the Bilame Silver Signature glide effortlessly between the cork and the neck of the bottle, without ever piercing or crumbling the cork. The cork remains intact, preserving the purity of the aromas and the finesse of the wine.
This ingenious principle also allows the bottle to be re-sealed, extending the tasting experience in optimal conditions.
An essential tool for sommeliers, it appeals to lovers of mature wines, collectors, and all those who know that the ritual of opening a bottle is an integral part of the pleasure of wine tasting.

The precision of design, the nobility of materials

Crafted from lustrous chrome-plated steel, the Bilame Silver Signature combines strength, lightness, and perfect balance.
The visible mold lines or subtle variations in the chrome finish are not flaws but intentional details — a tribute to the original design conceived nearly 80 years ago, and a reflection of the artisanal character that has made this iconic tool renowned around the world.

Its genuine black leather sheath, tailored to fit perfectly, protects the blades while evoking the timeless elegance of classic accessories. Every detail is designed to endure — the comfort of the grip, the fluidity of the movement, the refinement of each curve.
Beyond the tool itself lies a philosophy of wine: one that honors the gesture, the material, and the passage of time.

The Bilame corkscrew – Made in France

Proudly crafted in France, the Bilame embodies the historical savoir-faire of L’Atelier du Vin. From design to forging, every step of its creation is guided by precision and attention to detail, in keeping with French artisanal traditions. A true symbol of France’s enduring passion for wine, it is the result of meticulous craftsmanship passed down through generations.

A Gift Box Designed for Connoisseurs

Presented in a sleek, refined case, the Bilame Silver Signature stands as a truly exceptional gift. To offer it is to share a part of L’Atelier du Vin’s heritage — but also an experience: that of a precise, timeless gesture, a suspended moment when the wine is opened with respect for its memory.

How to Use the Bilame Silver Signature

1. Slide the two blades on either side of the cork, starting with the longer one.
2. Gently rock the handle while maintaining downward pressure until the blades are fully inserted.
3. Pull the handle upward with a slight rotation — the cork releases effortlessly.
4. To reseal the bottle, simply replace the cork using the same motion.

A genuine leather case, handmade in Italy, protects its mechanism like the tool of a great artisan. The fine blades of the corkscrew slip between the side of the cork and glass neck to open or re-cork a bottle, all with a simple turn of the hand and no forcing. Patented by L’Atelier du Vin in 1949, this opening system lets you extract the cork without piercing its surface – before putting it back into place as if nothing had happened at all.

Insert the long blade between the neck and the cork, and the short blade on the other side.

Move the handle back and forth to push the two blades all the way down.

Unscrew while pulling the handle upwards to extract the cork by gradually turning, without forcing.

A Twin Blade Corkscrew Manufactured in France, with a Genuine Leather Pouch

Entirely designed and manufactured in France, the bilame corkscrew has been patented since 1949 by Sanbri®, owner of the registered trademark L’Atelier du Vin®. Once discreetly favored by café waiters of the past, the bilame was used to uncork and reseal bottles without piercing the cork—allowing a small amount of wine to be discreetly drawn from each bottle.

With its raw zamac finish and hand-stitched leather sheath crafted in Italy, the Bilame Craft pays tribute to the strength of materials and a passion for authentic oenological tools.

Corks can become more fragile over time, especially when the wine has been kept in a cellar for several years. Opening the bottle with a spiral worm could damage the cork, causing it to crumble into the wine. The Bilame Craft bottle opener, on the other hand, enables to carefully extract the cork without piercing it. Winemakers, merchants, and sommeliers use this wine tool to open vintage aged grand crus. A must-have wine cellar accessory coveted by connoisseurs.

Our goal was to make these moments of tasting and enjoyment all the more joyful and relaxed. Enter Le Brasseur: the easy-to-use bottle opener!

Making it person-shaped was no accident; we wanted Le Brasseur to be like your new friend at the table.
Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre: A masterpiece!

The latest addition to the Soft Machine collection, the Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre is adorned with ebony, brass and solid hand-worked stainless steel.

With a seductive mix of elegance and creative functionality, the Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre stands out from the pack thanks to a unique rack system that lets you open bottles in one fluid and continuous movement. To ensure a perfect outcome every time, the Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre features two stainless steel blades with unique ergonomics. The large comma-shaped blade – evoking the shape of the ebony body – is ideal for slicing through cheese or saucisson without damaging dishes or cutting boards. And the other blade, smaller but just as robust, is ideal for clean and precise cuts through the foil.

The return of the folding knife corkscrew

A masterpiece of L’Atelier du Vin craftsmanship, The Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre is a masterpiece of L’Atelier du Vin’s craftsmanship, effortlessly merging the art of serving wine with that of cutlery, from a technical, ergonomic and aesthetic point of view.

A sharp blade makes all the difference

In the tradition of folding knives and Swiss Army knives, the Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre’s stainless-steel blade nestles into the ebony wood handle, and only reveals its sharpness when needed. Its raised tip and sweeping curve are reminiscent of a cheese knife.

When the bottle opener is not being used, the worm is tucked away inside the metal folding handle. It only opens up into a T-shaped corkscrew when extracting a cork from a bottle of wine. Simply press down with your thumb and forefinger to fold and unfold it.

When open, this pocket bottle opener provides an excellent grip to pull out the cork. The worm’s sharp tip can also be used to remove the bottle’s foil cap if needed.

When closed, the Pocket Collector Black corkscrew is an ideal size, taking up very little space, like a folding or Swiss-army knife.

A Vintage Corkscrew to Delight Collectors

While updating this collector’s item, L’Atelier du Vin’s designers, engineers, and craftsmen reproduced the 18th-century antique corkscrew’s original, highly resistant mechanism.

This old-fashioned winemaker’s and cellarman’s tool is both ergonomic and sturdy, typical of traditional utensils and tableware, everyday timeless accessories that last forever.

The Pocket Collector Black corkscrew is all black and stands out for its industrial look with the visible metal parts of its mechanism. The handsome, thick leather case perfectly complements the bottle opener, similar in shape to a satchel and in texture to a leather jacket.

Sommeliers, oenologists, and collectors of vintage corkscrews and art objects will love the authentic and hand-crafted feel of the Pocket Collector Black bottle opener. Beneath its modest exterior, this vintage corkscrew is steeped in history and culture: a small oenological masterpiece!

GEOMETRY by Margherita Matticari

Paris-based Italian designer Margherita Matticari offers an authentic and unique vision that combines innovative design with outstanding craftsmanship. The result? Functional, elegant and timeless objects that are made to be used. Made for life. Geometry marks Margherita’s second collaboration with L’Atelier du Vin, after her exceptional design of the Nomad Collection in 2021.

Geometry: Is it a gift box or a sculpture?

Actually, it’s both! Our vision behind Geometry was to create a box/sculpture piece. Serving as a box, Geometry opens to reveal the iconic L’Atelier du Vin corkscrew, Oeno Motion Gold. At the same time, whether open or closed, Geometry is a sculpture and work of art in its own right.

Why call it Geometry?

Put simply, we wanted to play with geometric shapes.

When closed, Geometry is composed of two triangles. When opened, a circle is revealed with Oeno Motion Gold in its center. The circular design is a nod to the instantly recognizable circle on the corkscrew. The circle and the triangle are essential shapes evoking body and spirit. The shapes also help push the minimalist theme to its limit.

Geometry is not a static object; it is dynamic. When closed, it serves as decorative. When open, it’s an invitation to be put to use and savor fine wines.

What was behind the choice in materials?

We selected black lacquered wood for a touch of elegance and purity, using what is essentially the iconic color of luxury. We played on marrying black and gold to enhance the geometric shapes and create a striking emotion. Thus, when opened, the matte black serves to accentuate the shine and glimmer of Oeno Motion Gold.

Overall, Geometry is an interplay of shapes and perspectives which, as I see it, belongs on a mantlepiece, coffee table, or surrounded by books on a shelf.

Each piece is unique because they are all made by hand. Geometry serves as an invitation to add beautiful form and perfect function to your home.

The Geometry of Wine in a Designer Corkscrew Set

Just as wine is enveloped in a bottle, this stainless-steel bottle opener is encapsulated in a timeless, beautiful black lacquered wooden sculpture. Inside the minimalist box lies an oenological treasure of exceptional craftsmanship: the Oeno Motion Gold corkscrew, ready to open a fine bottle of red, white or rosé wine.

Its foolproof mechanism enables to effortlessly extract the cork, much to the delight of wine connoisseurs. This prestigious corkscrew, complete with a foil cutter discreetly located in the inner side of its jaw, provides a good grip and solid support on the neck. Simply push the lever down to plunge the worm into the cork and pull it up to effortlessly extract it.

Remove the corkscrew from the bottle and repeat this movement to release the cork from your authentic sommelier tool, in preparation of your next tasting experience. This back-and-forth movement is reflected by the subtle sliding motion of the sculpted Geometry box, which opens and closes like a tribute to the art of revealing and hiding, or the ancestral secrets of wine making.

Oeno Motion Gold Geometry, an Exceptional Corkscrew

This powerful bottle opener, a technical and ergonomic masterpiece that encapsulates the art of living wine, was designed to last, as an heirloom to be passed from one generation to the next.

Oeno Motion Gold stands out from the other corkscrews in our wine accessory collections for the impression of power and grandeur it conveys both visually and physically.

The Geometry set, designed by Margherita Matticari, will also delight collectors and lovers of wine and art, in line with the rare corkscrew sets and collector bottle openers created by L’Atelier du Vin, a French manufacturer of wine tools from father to son since 1926.

The “de Gaulle” Corkscrew: an Iconic Bottle Opener

This must-have corkscrew, with its head and two big levers that look like arms, comes in all shapes and sizes throughout the world. It owes its name in France to General de Gaulle lifting his arms into the air while addressing the public.

L’Atelier du Vin carefully selected each component of the corkscrew’s mechanism to ensure that it is robust and easy to use. Our redesigned “de Gaulle” corkscrew is equipped with a special forged, “Teflon-coated” worm and a five-step turn to properly grip the cork and extract it.

Robust Components and a Foolproof Mechanism

“de Gaulle” corkscrew and sturdy spiral worm enables to effortlessly extract any type of cork without damaging it. The ingenious self-centring base helps to position it correctly on the neck, before plunging the metal into the soft cork.

We deliberately kept the body – made out of particularly hard-wearing zamak – in its original raw state, with a simple coat of transparent varnish and no chrome or paint, to emphasise its rugged nature. Its powerful matte black rivets and oversized gears further highlight its strong personality. The sturdy and authentic aspect of L’Atelier du Vin’s “de Gaulle” winged corkscrew can thus be seen at a glance.

This iconic corkscrew, both an everyday and precious object, will fit anywhere in your house, whether presented in a yellow and white decorative case, or carefully packed in a colourful gift box with a custom note.

How to Use a Winged Corkscrew

Place the tip of the worm in an upright position at the centre of the cork.

Twist the handle without touching the “wings”, or levers, so that they rise up by themselves.

Push both levers down to extract the cork from the bottle’s neck.

The Most Popular L’Atelier du Vin Corkscrew

L’Atelier du Vin, a French wine tool manufacturer since 1926, is a family business whose savoir-faire can traced back to the Champagne wine region, from father to son. We decided to create a strengthened version of the traditional winged corkscrew to share our passion for the art of living wine.

This popular bottle opener, with its instantly recognisable silhouette, is among the French’s favourite table utensils. From one generation to the next, the “de Gaulle” corkscrew is used at family dinners or to share a good bottle of wine with friends.

It therefore holds a particularly special place in our collection of sommelier tools and oenology accessories, where each of our corkscrews has its own story and personality.

History of the Winged Corkscrew

The very first winged corkscrew was invented at the end of the 19th century in England by William Baker. A few years later, Neville Heeley perfected its mechanism by connecting the bottle opener’s arms with a steering collar that slid down the middle as the worm entered the cork.

This double lever mechanism was dependable, but Dominick Rosati added the finishing touch in the 1930s with the foolproof rack and pinion system.

This wine tool was particularly popular in France after the war and was even named after General de Gaulle. Our creators at L’Atelier du Vin added a certain je ne sais quoi to this historical corkscrew, while staying true to its original design and equipping it with a Teflon-coated worm to make it even easier to open bottles.

A User-Friendly and Multipurpose Corkscrew

The de Gaulle winged corkscrew is multipurpose, like a sommelier bottle opener. The head includes a large bottle opener to gently remove beer or lemonade caps of any size. Which means you only need one tool to uncork or uncap any type of wine bottle or fizzy drink.

This sturdy and user-friendly corkscrew’s two lever mechanism enables to extract corks efficiently and effortlessly. Indeed, its renowned mechanism combines the benefits of an endless corkscrew and those of a lever corkscrew. The pressure required to extract the cork is spread over both arms, thus reducing the effort by half compared to a single lever system.

From an Everyday Corkscrew to a Collector’s Bottle-Opener

Winged corkscrews can be used to gently open any wine bottle. Simply screw the worm into the cork and press down on the wings to extract the cork. Our “de Gaulle” corkscrew is a signature L’Atelier du Vin design in raw zamak and Teflon. Whether tucked away in a kitchen drawer or standing proudly on the family dinner table, this bottle opener is the ideal tool to open a bottle of wine and embark on a tasting experience.
